The Vienna International School (http://www.vis.ac.at) is an independent, not-for-profit, preK-12 coeducational day school operating in the city of Vienna, Austria. The enrolment for the school year 2013-2014 is 1400 students representing over 100 nationalities. The School is accredited by the Council of International Schools and its curriculum is approved by the Austrian Ministry of Education. The School is divided into two major divisions: Primary and Secondary.


We are looking to recruit the following position as of August 2014

IT MANAGER (m/f)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The IT Manager

  • Is responsible for leading a team of staff who provides hardware, software, network and data management services
  • Supervises the technical support team
  • Is responsible for IT budgets for non-educational areas (e.g. administration, network, repairs, consumables, service contracting, etc.)
  • Develops and maintains a long-term strategic technical plan which meets internal curriculum based requirements and provides reliable data for financial planning
  • Plans and implements IT projects
  • Co-ordinates outsourced IT services and contractors
  • Creates and reviews IT/ technical policies and procedures
  • Ensures Service Level Agreements for IT Services
  • Maintains an inventory of hardware and software to ensure that all purchases represent a coherent purchasing strategy
  • Maintains a replacement schedule for all IT assets
  • Provides reports and supporting information as a member of the ICT Leadership Team
  • Liaises with the staff responsible for ICT integration to enhance learning
  • Prepares technical specifications for tendering of IT hardware and software
  • Co-ordinates IT purchases for academic, administration and technical areas

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications

  • University Degree or equivalent work experience, MBA or similar an asset
  • At least 7 years working in IT

Professional Experience

  • Leadership experience (Technical Department)
  • Experience in Project Management
  • Work experience in an educational setting and experience in managing a help-desk/call center an advantage

Professional Understanding and Knowledge

  • In depth knowledge of Macintosh and PC systems, servers and networking
  • Knowledge of reprographics technology
  • Fluency in English and German
